Your guide to the spookiest of nights.

Halloween has a boozy reputation  in more ways than one! But that doesn’t mean you’re out of options if you’re in recovery. Things like movie nights, mocktails and haunted houses are all fun, memorable ways to spend the evening. If you’re looking to celebrate the holiday without the alcohol, check out a few of our favorite suggestions below.

A sober Halloween doesn’t have to be a boring one  try a haunted house or even a haunted theme park. Talk about an adrenaline rush! Grab some friends and head to your town’s spookiest haunt. It’s sure to be a (booze-free) night you’ll remember.

Don’t forget that Halloween is a fun kids’ holiday too! If you have family or friends with young children nearby, see if you can join them for trick-or-treating. It’s a great way to hang out with the adults of the group and have fun seeing Halloween through kids’ eyes.

Have a scary movie marathon.

Time to break out the popcorn, dust off the DVD player, and invite some friends over (or hang solo  no judgement!). Pick out some Halloween classics like Ghostbusters, It or Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, and make a marathon out of it!

Make some marvellous mocktails.

Perfect for a Halloween movie night, these drinks still pack quite a punch, but without any alcohol! We like these Cider Sangrias for a more grown-up vibe and these Pumpkin Butterbeer Hot Chocolates if you want to have a bit of fun. If you don’t feel like making anything, check out this pick from Amazon!

Break a sweat.

If you love the opportunity to go out and dance the night away, try out some similar high-energy activities, and maybe even learn a couple things! A few of our favorite picks? Salsa dancing, contra dancing and swing dancing.

Happy Halloween, In The Rooms! We hope it’s a night full of friendship, laughter and fun. And if you’re looking for a recovery community of your own, try out In The Rooms today.
