Who Answers?

The Persist study is looking for volunteers who have recently started taking Suboxone (Buprenorphine) and experience chronic pain.

Chronic pain affects a lot of people, and some conditions can make your chronic pain worse. Help your care provider understand how much pain you have and how your pain affects you. By communicating your physical, mental, and emotional health with your provider, they can develop a pain management plan that fits your lifestyle.

Your pain can be treated in many ways. Opioids were the most commonly used form of treatment for chronic pain within the past decade and a half. Managing chronic pain creates unique challenges for people in recovery from opioids. Buprenorphine may be prescribed if it is the right choice for you.

Our research study is aimed at discovering whether remotely delivered programs can assist people in developing strategies to manage their pain and medications. We need your help in testing out this new therapy.

Participants can earn up to $500 as a thank-you for their time.

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are at least 18 years old and live within the United States
  • Have chronic pain.
  • Had problems with opioid use in the past 12 months.
  • Began buprenorphine treatment in the last 6 months.

What is involved?

  • Interview with the study team
  • Phone sessions with a research therapist
  • Follow-up calls for 12 months.

To determine whether you qualify, we will ask questions about your treatment, substance use, and pain experience. These questions will take about 5 minutes to answer. Please scan the QR code to complete our eligibility screener, or click here.
