If you are living with chronic pain and have recently been prescribed Suboxone (buprenorphine) medication, this research study may be for you!
Chronic pain is any pain that has lasted over 3 months and doesn’t seem to get better with time. People with chronic pain are oftentimes prescribed medications such as opioids to help with pain management. Opioid treatments are effective in helping mediate pain; however, opioids can be dangerous, and people can often become addicted to these medications. Opioid addiction is a chronic disease, but treatment can help. Buprenorphine is a common medication used to treat opioid addiction and may be prescribed if it is the right choice for you.
The University of Michigan needs your help to research interventions for pain and medication management.
We are looking to recruit participants who:
- Are at least 18 years old
- Live within the United States
- Have experienced chronic pain
- Had problems with opioid use in the past 12 months
- Began buprenorphine treatment in the last 6 months
- Have consistent access to a phone for study sessions
Participation lasts for 12 months, and you can earn up to $500 dollars as a thank you for participating.
Participation includes:
Interviews with a study staff member conducted over the course of 12 months.
Remote sessions with a research therapist over four weeks via phone/video chat.
Completion of various virtual surveys.
