Recently we carried an article talking about a Live Virtual Town Hall Experience, Courtesy of InTheRooms.com where The White House Director of National Drug Control Policy, Michael Botticelli would make a live appearance for a questions and answer forum, hosted by Tommy Rosen.
It took place on Monday Night 6th June and we at The Café have been given the opportunity by InTheRooms.com to bring you the video of that question and answer session. The public had an opportunity to send in questions for The Director to answer…and there were literally hundreds sent to the guys at InTheRoom.com to consider.
Mr Botticelli hits on topics such as upcoming changes in drug policy and treatment and how the perception of what an addict is, needs to change drastically in our society. There’s a lot to learn on a global scale from what Micheal Botticelli says. And remember he is coming from an informed and very personal place regarding addiction.
He has been in recovery himself for over 27 years. It’s really inspiring to see a prominent figure living in total disclosure of his past addiction and using his experience to help others in similar situations. He is passionate about breaking the sigma around addiction which, is a ridiculous stigma at this point in time, because nobody on the planet is untouched by this issue in some way. Botticelli says “Recovery should start with the person not the disease.”
The host, Tommy Rosen is an Author and founder of Recovery 2.0 Beyond Addiction Online Conference series and the Move Beyond Group Coaching Program. Tommy has almost 25 years of continuous recovery from drug addiction.
Tommy says of his experience interviewing the Director: “Interviewing Director Michael Botticelli was a thrill for me. He is a person in longterm recovery working tirelessly to improve the lives of people who have been afflicted with the dis-ease of addiction. His mission is our mission. We are fortunate to live in a time where we can experience the dawning of a new consciousness about recovery from addiction. Please watch this interview with Michael. This is about HOPE! May we be inspired each day on our path to wholeness. May we live out the promise of recovery in our life. We can do this. We will do this. We must do this.”
InTheRooms.com would also like to thank their technology partner Tokbox who make such events possible. Scott Lomond, CEO of TokBox says: “Live interactive video is opening up a world of opportunity in healthcare, including for addiction treatment and recovery. InTheRooms.com is a great example of a company using live video to transform the lives of millions of Americans. We’re proud our technology is powering such an important event.”
We hope you enjoy the video and any comments and suggestions are always welcome.
